Just cut Alder is almost white and when exposed to air it changes to light brown with yellow or reddish shades. The heartwood only forms in old age and there is no distinction between sapwood and heartwood itself before that moment.
Uses
Properties
Alder is a wood that is very suitable for indoor furniture, kitchens, doors, turned and carved objects, and kitchen utensils.
The average density after seasoning is 480 kg/m3. Alder is lightweight and easy to work with. It dries quickly but may be susceptible to deformations. It has good strength and is often used in light construction and furniture manufacturing. Spruce has an ideal porosity for various treatments that can penetrate the fibers well, making it very resistant to weathering.
